WHAT IS IT?

Champissage, or Indian head massage, is part of the ancient Ayurvedic system of healing. Champi means soul. Champissage, or soul massage, is a head massage created specifically for Europeans, which includes just those Indian head massage techniques that a Western person needs. In Europe, champissage is better known as Indian head massage.

HOW IS IT DONE?

This is a therapeutic procedure in which, by working on the energy channels, the whole head, neck, shoulders and, if desired, also the face are massaged. The Indian head massage lasts 45 minutes. The massage is done in a seated position. With long hair, it helps to comb your hair beforehand. You should also let the masseur know about any hair extensions and possible allergies (in case oils are used).

If desired, the massage is done with various oils or natural herb blends. When oils are used, the hair gets, so to speak, wet. For that reason it is advisable to bring a head covering in the cold season, otherwise you may catch a chill after the massage. The massage can also be done without oils if preferred. It's worth keeping the oil in your hair for 2-24 hours. The best way to remove the oil is with natural shampoos, especially peat shampoo. With ordinary shampoos, the hair should be washed more than once.

WHAT IS IT FOR?

Indian head massage relaxes, eases headaches, tired eyes and ringing in the ears. After the massage the hair becomes healthier, metabolism and lymphatic circulation improve, and so do thinking and concentration. The central nervous system is balanced and tension in the neck and shoulders decreases.

For excellent results, Indian head massage is recommended 5 – 10 times in a row, 1 – 2 times a week. For headaches and stress, it is worth also booking ear candle treatment.

It is recommended to drink water before and after the massage. This helps toxins leave the body faster. Do not consume alcohol for at least five hours before the massage.

WORTH KNOWING:

To encourage hair growth, after the Indian head massage it is worth combing and massaging your hair every evening for 5 – 10 minutes with a wooden bristle brush, and in the morning massaging the head actively with a terry towel. Comb in every direction. After a course of massages, it's worth doing a three-month cold-pressed oil treatment for the hair. To do this, take cold-pressed oil, massage it into the hair, then cover the hair with a plastic cap and a towel. Keep the cold-pressed oil on the head for two hours up to a whole day, and the result will be excellent.
